As a former employee of Salem-Keizer transit and someone who focused on transportation in their Masters in Urban and Regional Planning degree, I know how important mobility options are to the people of Marion County. We are faced with infrastructure problems that range from seismic solutions, to lack of sidewalks, to bike lanes, to a third bridge. As a Marion County commissioner, I know we would need to work on all of this while keeping an eye to the future. How will increasing autonomy of vehicles effect these problems? How will the increased funding from the passage of HB 2017 effect these situations? We need to be ready as a county to stand up for and coordinate the best transportation solutions we can for our residents.
